Professional biography
Dr. Abid Ali Malik is a pediatrician and pediatric cardiologist in Islamabad, caring for children with heart conditions — from a first murmur to complex congenital heart disease. After completing his MBBS and FCPS in Paediatrics, he pursued advanced training across Pakistan and Ireland, building a practice that combines international standards of care with a deeply personal approach to every family he treats.
Training in Pakistan & Ireland
Dr. Abid Ali completed his fellowship in Cardiology at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Pakistan’s premier cardiac institute, where he trained in pediatric and congenital heart disease and interventional techniques. He then undertook specialist pediatric and neonatal training in Ireland’s Children’s Health and University College Hospital systems, under the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) framework — an experience that shaped his protocol-driven, evidence-based approach to care.
Pediatric cardiology & interventional experience
His clinical work spans the full spectrum of pediatric cardiology: pediatric, neonatal and fetal echocardiography, ECG assessment, congenital heart disease evaluation, and interventional procedures including device closures of ASD, PDA and VSD where appropriate. He also provides postoperative follow-up, arrhythmia evaluation and independent second opinions for families seeking clarity.
Teaching & academic work
As an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Dr. Abid Ali teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate trainees alongside his clinical practice. He leads the ECG Club / Echo Academy — a growing education platform of lectures, teaching modules, cases and quizzes in pediatric ECG and echocardiography — and publishes peer-reviewed research in pediatric cardiology. His publications, presentations, workshops and academic activities are listed on the Research & Publications page.
