My child was told they have a heart murmur — should I worry?
Most heart murmurs in children are innocent — harmless sounds made by normal blood flow through a healthy heart, and they are extremely common. However, a murmur can occasionally indicate an underlying heart problem. The only way to be certain is a proper pediatric cardiac evaluation with examination and, when indicated, an echocardiogram. Rather than worry, book a consultation — most families leave with complete reassurance.
